Extension Tour from Israel Four Days in Jordan
Day 1
Transfer from Tel Aviv or Jerusalem and drive to the Jordanian border (Sheik Hussein Bridge or Allenby Bridge). After border crossing procedures, meet the Jordanian tour guide and enter the country. We start by visiting Jerash – City of the Decapolis –in the fertile heights of Gilead. There we visit the Roman city with colonnaded streets, the ancient theater, the baths the hill top temple, the triumphal arch, among other sites. We drive to Amman, the capital of the Hashemite Kingdom and the largest city in the country. At the end of the day, we drive to the hotel in Amman for dinner and rest.
Day 2
We have breakfast at the hotel and then drive to Madaba, home to the famous 6th century Mosaic Map of Jerusalem and the Holy Land. We continue to Mount Nebo, from where Moses viewed the Promised Land, for a short visit to the remains of the Byzantine church with a mosaic floor. We see a great overview of the Jordan Valley, Jericho, and the Dead Sea. We continue south and we pass through Shobak, the crusaders castle, to Wadi Musa, the modern town of Petra to our hotel for dinner and rest.
Day 3
We have breakfast at the hotel. We go for a fascinating tour of Petra, which is known as “Ha Sela Ha Edom” or red rock city. We start with a horseback ride to the “Siq” (Canyon). We continue on foot to Petra, the ancient capital of the Nabateans from the 3rd century BC to the 2nd century AD. We visit then the most interesting carved monuments such as the Treasury (El Khazneh – a tomb of a Nabatean king) to the field of tombs, obelisks, the altar etc. From this point, you can view the whole of the rock city. We will leave Petra and drive to Amman for to our hotel for dinner and rest.
Day 4
We have breakfast at the hotel and we drive to the border to cross back to Israel and transfer to Jerusalem or Tel Aviv.
